Hi, I'm Marissa.

I'm a writer, content strategist and creative leader with 11 years of experience creating memorable content for brands, causes, and government agencies.

My philosophy: Words are powerful tools.
When chosen with intention, they create radically positive user experiences, make workplaces more inclusive, even amplify empathy and human kindness.

Currently based in San Francisco, I run on coffee, lists and gummy bears.

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I've had a lot of jobs.

Raised in Florida and higher-learned in the District of Columbia, I've worked as a reporter, copy editor, communications director, digital marketing strategist, fitness instructor, event photographer, Capitol Hill intern, front desk receptionist, and all-around problem solver since 2007.

Most of these don't make the cut for my resume (waiting tables at Ruby Tuesday, anyone?). But every job has taught me something important about solving problems.

Mostly, work hard and be nice to people. But also, don't underestimate the power of empathy, authenticity, partnerships and dynamite narratives.

WHAT I DO

I'm a big-picture thinker who likes to make things work better. But I don't mind rolling up my sleeves and actually doing the work alongside my team, knocking down obstacles and inspiring my colleagues to do their best work while having fun.

let's work together

Whether you need help fixing a sticky problem, redesigning your website, developing a vision or strategic plan, editing, copywriting, ghostwriting, or positioning your brand, I could definitely help you make it amazing.

I traded my car for a bike in 2008.

Since then, I've cycled tens of thousands of miles — including two trips across the entire state of Iowa, blasting Rihanna and Daft Punk from my bicycle speakers the whole way.

Riding a bike helps me save money, manage stress and take control of my daily commute. On a bike, I feel more independent and self-confident — like a stronger version of myself. I like finding ways to share my love of cycling with other people.

take a class with me!

I've been a certified spin instructor since 2015. My classes blend my love of riding outside with high-energy music and challenging, form-focused choreography. I currently teach at Lavation in San Francisco.

support better biking

Riding a bike changed my life. That's why I support the Washington Area Bicyclist Association's Women & Bicycles program, an initiative to encourage more women to use bicycles for transportation.
